"Parenchymal Scarring Throughout Both Lungs"

Hi, I have COPD and was recently admitted for what was diagnosed as community acquired pneumonia/COPD flair up. My CT showed "some diffuse GGO throughout both lungs, severe emphysemous changes with parenchymal scarring throughout both lungs, concern for scarring atelactasis vs developing pneumonia. The doctor said I don't have Pulmonary Fibrosis or ILD. Is it possible to have parenchymal scarring throughout both lungs without having PF/ILD?

The reason I ask is because I looked at a CT scan from last year and it showed "mild right basilar opacity probably from chronic interstitial disease". Nobody ever said anything to me about it then or now.
